Strategic Partners

TDI builds dedicated project teams around specific customer requirements. In-house resources are complemented by a large network of technical consultants, preferred suppliers and manufacturers.

Specifically, TDI enjoys close working relationships with the following strategic partner companies:

CETT, China

Changzhou Evergreen Transport Technology (CETT) supplies the Chinese rail industry with complete interior systems for high speed and metro rolling stock. Since 2005, TDI has worked closely with CETT on design and engineering for many rail projects, both in China and internationally. CETT is also able to support TDI on design and supply contracts in Europe which require a competitive 'LCC' element.

Greenfold Systems

Based in Dunfermline, Scotland, Greenfold Systems Ltd (GSL) are a leading supplier to the bus and rail industries of low to medium volume metal fabricated products including high complexity mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies. Most recently, GSL and TDI have worked together to design and supply the new visitor transit system for Stonehenge.

SL Transportation

Located nearby the TDI offices, SL Transportation (trade name Severn Lamb) is TDI's ULR train manufacturing partner. The two companies collaborate on the design and supply of niche people movers and specialist trains designed to operate in attractions, theme parks, airports, exhibition sites and park-and-ride applications. Severn Lamb has been designing, building and maintaining light urban and leisure transport systems all over the world since 1947.

TDI Australia

Established in 1988 as a joint venture with Design Resource in Sydney, Transport Design International Pty Ltd is our gateway to both the Australasian and Asia-Pacific markets. Under the leadership of CEO John Brown, our team down under specialises in the industrial design and styling of rolling stock, road vehicles, motor boats and yachts with a particular focus on safety, comfort and accessibility.

TDI is the UK design partner and sales agent for Vectus, a Korean owned company (POSCO) fully committed to become a leading, global supplier of Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) systems. PRT is a fully automated, public transportation solution that is optimally designed to offer on-demand and non-stop travel services, similar to the use of taxis but without a driver on-board the vehicle. Vehicles typically seat six to eight passengers.

Warwick Design

Transport Design International was originally founded by product design house Warwick Design Consultants in 1987. Now managed by Robert Tansley, Warwick Design continues to support the TDI team on the design, development and prototyping of specialist electro-mechanical products and equipment.

TDI have enjoyed a longstanding association with locally based fabrication experts Winstanley & Co. Since the 1990s, Winstanley have been supplying complete rolling stock interior systems to Alstom, Bombardier and Siemens. Working in close partnership, TDI and Winstanley are able to provide a comprehensive design and supply service to the rail industry.
